Predecessor of the DFAC Hirschfaenger
Sometimes new insights do appear coincidentally. While one of the authors watched one of the first movies made of Wilhelm II with the Cinémtographe, he surprisingly saw the first documented appearance of the predecessor of the DFAC Hirschfaenger.
On the screenshots from this movie one will easily recognize that the coachmen as well as most likely the motorised drivers of Wilhelm II carried Hirschfaengesr with ivory grip, clamshell and a scabbard with leather body, exactly like the ones which were carried between 1905 and around 1910 by DFAC members.
So DFAC Hirschfaengers were adopted from the personel Imperial coachmen and drivers of the Kaiser.
