Corps Uniforms

It would fill a book to describe in detail the uniform of the German Voluntary Automobile Corps and the motorised troops, which goes far beyond the framework of this composition. For this reason the following description can, and should, only be seen as an introduction which focuses on references to the Corps.

Basically it must be understood that the German Voluntary Automobile Corps and the motorised troops were two completely different organisations. The motorised troops were a purely military unit, the Corps was not so. It was only during the first World War that they were put together for pragmatical reasons.  Accordingly, the development of their uniforms took a completely separate course up to 1916.
